オーストラリアのデザインを紹介するJAUとのイベントを経て、AUSTRALIAの文化を知ることに興味がわいてきました。私の中で特に好きなブランドが、MAN-TLE とStudio Henry Wilsonでした。いつか一緒にイベントが出来たらと思っていたブランドです。

JAUのSonny氏との会話の中で、2つのブランドを一緒にイベントが出来たらおもしろいという何気ない雑談から、MAN-TLE とStudio Henry Wilsonの共通点であるHeavy Weight Materialのコレクションを集めてディスプレイをしようとなりました。両ブランド、デザインのプロセスにおいて、生地や素材へのこだわりが深く関わっています。

WEARのブランドとPRODUCTのブランドという普段交わらない両者にはモノづくりの共通点がきっとあり、このイベントの為にMAN-TLEのデザイナーがセレクトしたMAN-TLEの洗練されたコレクションとStudio Henry Wilsonのプロダクトが並びます。こんなお店があったら良いなという自分にとっての理想を表現したいと思いました。

どのような化学反応が起こるのか。イメージはしっかりとしているつもりですが、今からディスプレイをすることがとても楽しみです。

After an event with JAU which showcased Australian interior design, I became increasingly interested in learning more about brands and culture from this side of the world. Among the brands I had already particularly liked were MAN-TLE and Studio Henry Wilson; both of whom I had hoped to collaborate with one day.

During a casual conversation with JAU’s Sonny, we talked about how interesting it would be to bring these two brands together. From there, the idea emerged to curate an event showcasing their collections, which share a common focus on heavyweight materials. Both brands place a strong emphasis on fabric and material selection as a core value and an integral part of their design process.

Despite being from different categories; MAN-TLE as a clothing brand and Studio Henry Wilson as an interior product brand, there is an undeniable connection in their passionate approach to craftsmanship. For this event, we are showcasing a refined selection of MAN-TLE’s collection, carefully curated by the brand’s designers, alongside Studio Henry Wilson’s products.

I have always wanted to create a space that embodies the kind of store I would personally love to see,  and I’m excited to see it take shape and to witness how this collaboration comes together. I have a clear vision for it and am especially looking forward to setting up the display. I hope you’ll take the opportunity to visit and experience it for yourself.

MAN-TLE

MAN-TLEは、西オーストラリアのパースを拠点とするファッションブランドです。元々ドーバー ストリート マーケット ギンザで同僚だったラーズ・ハリー（Larz Harry）とアイダ・キム（Aida Kim）夫妻が2016年に立ち上げました。オーストラリア沿岸部の荒い気候に耐えうる、実用性と耐久性に優れたメンズとウィメンズウェアを展開しています。

彼らはシーズンごとにR1、R2...という形でナンバリングしたコレクションを発表しています。長く着ることを前提にデザインされたMAN-TLEの服は、生地及び製造は全て日本で行っており、丈夫でありながら、着ていくうちに、身体に馴染み、まさに「着倒す」感覚を楽しむことができる一着です。

MAN-TLE

MAN-TLE is a fashion brand based in Perth, Western Australia, founded in 2016 by Larz Harry and Aida Kim, who first met as colleagues at Dover Street Market Ginza. The brand offers practical and durable men’s and women’s wear designed to withstand the harsh climate of the Australian coast. Each season, MAN-TLE releases collections numbered in sequence, such as R1, R2, and so on. Designed with longevity in mind, all of MAN-TLE’s garments are made from fabric sourced and manufactured in Japan. These pieces are not only durable but become more attuned to your body over time, allowing you to enjoy the feeling of ‘wearing them in’ as you continue to wear them.

Studio Henry Wilson

Studio Henry Wilsonは、2012年にシドニーを拠点に活動するヘンリー・ウィルソンによって設立されたデザインスタジオです。Studio Henry Wilsonは、金属、石、木など素材の美しさを活かした照明、インテリア小物、アクセサリーを専門とし、実用性とデザインを兼ね備えた作品を製作しています。彼のデザインは、オーストラリアの自然からもインスピレーションを受け、自然が持つ有機性、不完全さも魅力として受け入れています。実用的で均整が取れた形、荒々しい自然を感じる唯一無二のヘンリー・ウィルソンの作品は、時間の概念を超え、どんな場所にも馴染む、タイムレスなデザインです。

Studio Henry Wilson
Studio Henry Wilson is a design studio founded in 2012 by Sydney-based designer Henry Wilson. The studio specialises in lighting, interior items, and accessories that highlight the beauty of materials such as metal, stone, and woods, creating works that combine both practicality and design. Henry’s designs are inspired by the harsh Australian natural landscape, embracing the organic imperfections of nature as part of their charm. Henry Wilson’s unique creations, which feature practical and well-balanced shapes with a rugged natural essence, are timeless pieces that seamlessly fit into any space.
